The project AgriVET – Advancing Agri-food Value Chain Skills in Sub-Saharan Africa has officially started. The pre-Kick Off Meeting (KOM), held in Poland, was successfully concluded, marking a key initial moment of coordination among partners and the official launch of project activities.
Funded under the Erasmus Plus Capacity Building VET programme, AgriVET aims to strengthen vocational education and training (VET) systems in the agri-food sector across Sub-Saharan Africa, with a specific focus on Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda. In this context, the project seeks to develop and implement an innovative, digital, and market-oriented training pathway, designed to introduce a new strategic professional profile: the Value Chain Manager, capable of managing and optimizing agri-food value chains and contributing to the sector’s sustainable development.
To achieve its objectives, the project will design a modern and comprehensive training programme that integrates:
- advanced teaching methodologies
- innovative digital tools
- hands-on, field-based activities
The goal is to make agri-food training more effective, inclusive, and aligned with labour market needs.
Throughout its implementation, AgriVET will carry out several key activities, including:
- Modernisation of VET curricula: updating training pathways to meet current agri-food sector demands.
- Training of local trainers: dedicated programmes for teachers and VET professionals to transfer updated skills and innovative methodologies.
- Work-Based Learning: practical activities based on real agri-food micro value chains to foster experiential learning.
- Development of digital resources: creation of MOOCs, toolkits, and professional manuals to ensure long-term accessibility and sustainability.
- Strengthening stakeholder dialogue: fostering collaboration among training providers, agri-food businesses, and digital innovation actors.
AgriVET aims to create new opportunities for young people and women by promoting skills development, social inclusion, and economic growth in the agri-food sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the same time, the project strengthens the connection between education, industry, and digital innovation, contributing to the development of a more resilient, dynamic, and future-oriented ecosystem.
Stay tuned to discover upcoming developments and activities of the AgriVET project!
